Holding Quran: Need of the hour
Youth as an Ambassador of Islam:
ذٰلِكَ الۡڪِتٰبُ لَا رَيۡبَ ۛۚ ۖ
فِيۡهِ ۛۚ هُدًى لِّلۡمُتَّقِيۡنَ
(Surah Al
Baqarah: Verse 2)
‘This is the Scripture whereof there is no
doubt, a guidance unto those who ward off (evil).”
As Quran's authenticity can no longer be
questioned, there is a dire need of holding the teachings of Islam to cope up
with challenges faced by Muslim Ummah.
The Current State of Muslim Youth:
The common challenge, we as Muslim Ummah is facing
right now is the misperceptions and misconceptions of youth about the teachings
of Islam. Youth has numerous questions regarding the teachings of Islam that
are interpreted to them in a quite disturbing way. We, the youth do not see
Islam as an important element of our life, as our necessity, we see it as a
part of our tradition or a religion that is passed down to us by our parents
and to them by their parents, and so on.
الَّذِينَ ضَلَّ سَعْيُهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ يَحْسَبُونَ
(Surah Al Kahaf:verse 104)
[They are] those whose effort is lost
in worldly life, while they think that they are doing well in work.
The Crisis of UMMAH:
Over time, the teachings of Islam are fading
away. For instance, you can’t easily distinguish between a Muslim and a
non-Muslim girl or a boy, by their physical appearances in our current
so-called educational institutions. As our youth is so much obsessed with the
western culture. If you ask an average Muslim youth, what do you want
from your life?
The answer to this question is not
different from a Jewish youth, or a Hindu youth, or a Christian youth. Most of
the answers include that I want a successful life, a handful of the
materialistic things, career, all that, and their success directly means the
success of this world entirely, our life goals are not even influenced by the
teachings of Islam, unfortunately.
One common notion around us regarding Islam
is, a person talking about religion is seen, as he is returning to religion
because he is not succeeded in his life. This really is the scary part. Isn’t
it? We can easily observe around us many students who are not good in academics
are admitted to Madrassas, for Islamic education. This is very much common. We
just need to end this stigma. We need to define our goals. We need to interpret
the teachings of Islam to youth in a remarkable manner as they are.
What
Needs to Be Done to Revive The UMMAH:
We need to inspire our youth by our Sahabas, by
making them role models. Unfortunately, we have role models that do not deserve
to be ones. We should reconstruct the idea that Islam is a source of Pride. The
whole of the world is looking up to us, to Islam, as we have something superior
to offer them. Muslim youth need to be responsible. Muslim mothers need to be
empowered. Confidence in Muslim women needs to be revived.
Responsibilities
of Muslim Youth towards UMMAH:
We need
to be pretty much concerned about our life after here. As we have left the
legacy for those who follow our footprints. For they have to answer for
themselves and we have to answer for themselves as well.
(Surah Al-Ankabut:Verse 13)
“But they will surely carry their
[own] burdens and [other] burdens along with their burdens, and they will
surely be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about what they used to
invent’’
We are
living in the 21st century, a Century of open information. We need to uplift
the Muslim community, truly show Islam to the world what it is supposed to be.
We need to be the torch bearers of society as we are the ambassadors of
Islam.
