Breaking down the Stigma - Mental health conditions

Breaking down the Stigma - Hear out the unheard.

Every one in four persons around the globe is suffering from some sort of mental illness. An obscure trauma, insufferable agony, inaudible screech that starts from within and eventually becomes a part. Although we are living in the third decade of the 21st-century, mental illness is still a stigma in our society. There is a dire need of raising awareness about this stigma. We must consider mental health as important as one’s physical health and that there should be no reluctance in seeking professional aid.

At times we are unable to endure the heaviness of our heart, the heftiness of our souls, and the denseness of our untold feelings all that we need to feel as light as hope.

It is natural to feel ill at ease when we are unable to cope with the ongoing circumstances. It is a sort of a warning of our minds about unanticipated occurrences. Regardless of making efforts in controlling our mind, the fact is, we just cannot take our mind off reflecting certain thoughts. The precariousness of life combined with the fear of the future only makes things worse.

There are a few things that you can do to ensure your mental peace:

Be up for challenges:

Instead of asking why me your attitude should try me. Accept the fact and always look at the brighter side by leaving all the shadows behind. Just as happiness does not last longer, those moments of sadness might not either.

Be selective:

There is a saying: YOU BECOME WHAT YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH. You need to be cautious in choosing the people of your life. Do yourself a favor by surrounding yourself with those who talk about positivity, who believe in the goodness of people, who inspire you, who make you realize your worth. Every listener needs a listener too.

Ignore Naysayers:

Everyone in your life not truly deserves you. Stop manipulating yourself for those who take your attention for granted. Find your purpose and set your wings to fly. Set yourself a priority. Embrace your imperfections.

Let yourself break the chains. The chains that are set by society, by your peer pressure, live your life to the fullest. Encourage your small steps towards your goals because they are no longer small when you will be there.

BE YOU.

Stop being the reason for someone’s smile by putting your mental peace at stake. Be enough for yourself first. In the end, it is you that matters.

From ignorance to enlightenment,

From heaviness to lightness

from chaos to calmness is the journey. A journey of life.

You have to keep breaking your heart until it opens”   (Rumi)

How can you go through healing unless you break? How can you stand out without being submissive? How can you embrace victory without failure? Give yourself time. Time to heal. Time to grow. You are just perfect with your imperfections.

Stop chasing. Stop existing.

Start living. Start dreaming.
